Papua New Guinea’s national carrier, Air Niugini, has announced today that it is now accepting PayPal and POLi payment methods for purchasing airline tickets online.
Air Niugini General Manager, Commercial Services, Mr. Dominic Kaumu said:
Introducing PayPal and POLi payment methods represents another important step in ensuring the valued customers are offered alternative payment options when purchasing tickets.
For Air Niugini customers, this is an added convenience, especially for those existing PayPal and POLi customers who are used to their preferred payment method. These two alternative payment methods may also be welcomed by those who are still not comfortable about giving their credit card details away online.”
For the tech savvy lot and those not often comfortable in giving out their credit card details away online, this should come as a relief.
With a PayPal account, you can add more than one card as a source of payment of your online transactions.
There is no fee to open a PayPal account, however, do note that there are chargeable fees for online transactions. If you want to know more about PayPal visit www.paypal.com.
POLi on the other hand is even more seamless in making online payments. Unlike PayPal where you need to register and store credit card details, POLi a payment platform arm of Australian Post, doesn’t do that. Rather, it connects you to your own internet banking account so all you to use is your internet banking account credentials. POLi might not be so relevant to Papua New Guineans, especially those who do not have an Australian or New Zealand bank account that is approved by POLi.
Will talk more on the two in a separate article.
