Despite rumors that the “Fifty Shades Darker” movie will be banned in the country much like the first movie “Fifty Shades of Grey,” this much awaited novel-turned-film will be shown in Paradise Cinemas Vision City starting February 11.
“Fifty Shades Darker,” the sequel to the racy bondage flick “Fifty Shades of Grey,” was given a R-21 rating by the Censors Board of PNG.
Paradise Cinemas however, in its discussion with the Censors Board after the movie review, wants to remind the public that minors will not be allowed to see it and that an identification card is strictly required to those who would be buying the movie ticket as mandated by the Censors Board of PNG.
The said movie was reviewed and rated by the Censors Board enforcement team headed by Ms. Nancy Kilala, Chief Executive Manager for Corporate Services and Mr. Rob Roy Chiki, Acting Manager for Policy Division.
Paradise Cinemas’ Prue Go said it will abide to the conditions set by the Censors Board of PNG to maintain their symbiotic business relationship with them.
Based on the bestselling novels by author E.L. James, “Fifty Shades Darker” continues the relationship between enigmatic 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and college student Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) that began with 2015’s “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which earned more than $560 million globally during its theatrical run.
Unlike the first movie, this sequel is more of a psychological thriller and that the romance between Christian and Anastasia have blossomed to a more serious note.
One last sequel have already been announced for the film (Fifty Shades Freed) which, despite the controversies, is expected to become another blockbuster franchise.
Fandango, a U.S. company that sells movie tickets via telephone and the internet, reported that “Fifty Shades of Grey” is “the fastest-selling R-rated movie title” in its 15-year history.
