Bank South Pacific (BSP) is now the official Community Partner of PNG’s most popular NRL club the Brisbane Broncos under a two-year sponsorship contract announced today (Sunday 2nd February, 2020) at Lamana Hotel, Port Moresby, by the BSP Group CEO, Robin Fleming.
Mr Fleming said BSP’s joint partnership with such reputable club is not only in rugby league but also in business and community programs which is beneficial for both parties.
This partnership will focus on both parties working together in three key areas within the BSP operations; Education through Financial Literacy, SME and Leadership.
Under Education, 2,000 school children from primary and secondary schools will be targeted from respective schools within NCD to take part in BSP’s Financial Literacy program. In 2021, the program will be extended to other centres. The partnership will see the Brisbane Broncos promoting financial literacy and the importance of saving by making appearances, meeting the students and recognising and awarding these students certificates and limited edition co-branded BSP and Brisbane Broncos merchandise.
Present at the announcement were Brisbane Broncos Tain Drinkwater, Women’s Premiership CEO and the General Manager – HR, Risk and Compliance, and popular retired forward player and ambassador Petra Cevoniciva.
Ms Drinkwater said: “We are happy to be associated with BSP as our Values and Community Commitment are similar. We are already promoting Health and Education amongst the Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities and Leadership in Queensland so the type of partnership with BSP is not new to us.”
The leadership component of the partnership will cover BSP SME customers and BSP’s Leadership Management Development Program participants whereby the Brisbane Broncos will help in providing resources, leadership and mentoring in business. “This is an added benefit to our BSP SME customers apart from the existing YES program we have,” added Mr Fleming. “The Broncos will also assist in providing Australian-based leaders for mentorship and development of our staff and BSP’s existing SME customers.”
Drinkwater and Cevoniciva were guests of BSP at the BSP Leadership Forum and Long Service and Community Awards Night over the weekend.
