It’s the same old story, just different Games.
Papua New Guinea’s leading men’s lifterS teven Kari has won Gold this morning in the Clean and Jerk and another Gold for leading in the overall Total.
The Hanuabada lad lifted a mammoth total of 198kg. Following behind PNG with silver was Walis and Futuna at 193kg and then Samoa who settled for bronze with 181kg.
Earlier this year at the SP Awards a confident Kari was quoted as saying he would defend his title and it comes as no surprise that he has basically lived up to his promise – not that it surprised many Papua New Guineans.
Interestingly, Kari still lifts under the mango tree at Hanuabada often refusing other professional training overseas. And he still doesn’t disappoint.
