Fast Processing of New Passports Stalled Due to NID Fraud Detection
PUBLIC NOTICEThis Public Notice serves to inform all our valued clients and the general public lodging passport applications at Koitachi Haus that ICA has imposed a temporary suspension on all payments for Fast Processing applications
This Public Notice serves to inform all our valued clients and the general public lodging passport applications at Koitachi Haus that ICA has imposed a temporary suspension on all payments for Fast Processing applications effective as of the date of this Notice.
The temporary suspension is necessary as ICA is unable to turn around Fast Processing applications within the expected 48 hrs period due to important verification issues with NID birth certificates which is a legal and mandatory requirement for a new Passport. Payments for normal 15-days processing time will not be affected.
ICA and NID Office are meeting regularly to clear all outstanding issues with NID before passport applications are processed. Priority will be given to Fast Processing applications lodged before the date of this Notice.
The temporary suspension on payments for Fast Processing will only affect new passport applications lodged for the first time. Applications for passport renewals will not be affected by the suspension.
This verification process in light of the detection of fraudulent NID certificates and certificates without correct or no serial numbers is important to maintain the integrity of PNG Passports.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and seek your cooperation as ICA and NID Office work to resolve the issues and ensure the Fast Processing arrangement is restored soon.
