Port Moresby, October 2nd, 2017 | Bank South Pacific (BSP) staff at Finance and Planning Strategic Business Unit (SBU), built and donated 20 new benches for the waiting area at St Therese Clinic at Hohola, Port Moresby.
Patients no longer have to sit on the clinic floor while waiting to be served.
Sister In-Charge of St Therese Clinic, Sister Elsie Soso said, “We serve more than a hundred patients every day and some come from as far as Rigo in the central Province, eight and nine mile to access the medical services.”
“The donation of these benches and your efforts to refurbish this clinic may seem small to you but to us, it is a very big blessing because our patients can now sit comfortably while waiting to be served under cooler conditions unlike before when they had to sit on the floor.” She added.
BSP’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Eddie Ruha handed over the project on behalf of the bank and thanked the St Therese Clinic staff and the Hohola community for giving BSP the opportunity to conduct this worthy project.
“I hope that through our contribution today, it will make meaningful and lasting changes in this community especially for our Women & Children and the general population,” he said.
BSP’s Finance and Planning Strategic Business Unit (SBU) handed over the project to staff at St Therese Clinic on Wednesday 27th September, 2017.
The project took four weeks to complete and activities carried out by the staff and contractor included repainting of new forms for the patients, cleaning of the inner and outer walls, painting of the clinic’s walls and the TB section walls, refurbishment of the Sisters’ office and also cleaning around the project site for the contractor to commence renovations.
