Port Moresby, June 19th, 2017 | Security is an important part of banking, and Bank South Pacific (BSP) has a long standing partnership with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) in providing a high level of security.

Through this partnership, BSP has a dedicated Security Services Reserve Police Unit, which is an integral part of the banks security operations.

On Friday BSP Security Services Reserve Police Unit welcomed 23 new members to its team.

A special parade was held at the BSP Commercial Centre at Gordons, witnessed by Executives of BSP and families of the officers passing out.

Also present was Assistant Police Commissioner for Operations, Jim Andrews.

BSP Head of Security Services Andrew Cannock when speaking at the ceremony welcomed the members of this special team, and urged them to carry out their duties with integrity.

“BSP understands the important role that security plays in our operations, and so through this partnership with the RPNGC, we have our very own Reserve Police Unit,” said Mr Cannock.

“Your role is very important to the overall success of the bank, and the training and support provided through the RPNGC is important to maintain a high level of security throughout our network . As members of BSP Security Services Reserve Police Unit, you will also contribute to policing in NCD, which is part of BSP giving back to the community,” he added.

Established through an MOA in year 2000, the BSP Security Services Reserve Police Unit exists to strengthen and increase manpower to provide policing role within the Bank establishments in prevention and detection of crime.

Much of the unit’s role deals with internal fraud investigation, escorts, as well as general policing.

The Unit also supports the NCD Metropolitan Command, by providing manpower on weekend duties and special operations.
