Pride of Papua New Guinea Awards for Women is a community service initiative by CPL Group in recognizing and rewarding ordinary Papua New Guinean women who have done extraordinary things. This award program is for the women who are not well-known, however, they are contributing immensely to the development of the country through their involvement in the community, in their jobs as public servants or in various community projects and activities.
Under the Patronage of His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, GCL, GCMG, KSTJ, the CPL Group initiated these awards in 2007 so there will be an avenue where these women can now have their stories be told, for people to nominate women in this country who they feel deserve the recognition for the work they do.
CPL Group is the first organization to offer this sort of awarding system to
celebrate the lives of many unsung heroes of this nation. It is with pride that there is now a platform of encouragement and a system of empowerment for women as we progress into the future.
For the past years, since its inception in 2007, 6 medals have been awarded annually for the categories of Bravery and Courage, Community Spirit, Environment, Education/Role Model, Young PNG and last but not the least, Care and Compassion.
The uniqueness of this project is that all winners are being given assistance by CPL Group every year, not just a one-off thing. The assistance given is related to the category that they have won.
CPL Group, in dedicating a decade to these awards anticipates a clear vision of supporting more women in the work they do, whether as community workers, as honest long serving public servants in various departments such as health and education, volunteers in NGO’s and as aspiring young Papua New Guineans who hold the promising hope to a better future of this country.
There are 6 categories and these are as follows:
1. Young PNG
2. Bravery and Courage
3. Community Spirit
4. Care and Compassion
6. Education / Role Model
This year’s launch will mark the 11th year of these awards headed by His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae & Lady Hannah. It will take place at Lamana Hotel’s Athenian Room on June 18 at 10am.
Ms. Lynda Babao-O’Neill also confirmed to be present during the launch. It will be well-attended by different representatives from the Diplomatic mission, NGO’s and corporate heads and will be officially launched by the Patron himself.
The said event will also be attended by dignitaries, corporate companies, NGOs
and past Pride of PNG winners.
As an equal opportunity employer, CPL Group is proud to be supporting the women in Papua New Guinea and is committed to add more years to the success of Pride of PNG.
