The Australian PMXIII arrived at Port Moresby’s Jackson’s International Airport to a rousing welcome.

This was expected considering the rugby league mad nation Papua New Guinea is and from the looks of the Australian players, they certainly appreciated the huge welcome.

From young kids to big kids, most shouted out the names of their favourite players with the Kangaroos captain Greg Inglis being amongst the most popular names shouted out.

The team takes on the PNG PM XIII tomorrow at the National Football Stadium and reports coming in are that tickets have been sold out.

This is the first match of this annual fixture to be played at the NFS and the match is expected to be televised live on Digicel’s TVWAN.

The Australians are expected to comfortably win the match but the PNG side is expected to come out early with all guns blazing.  If the PNG side can remain competitive in the first half, it should be an interesting second half.

History suggests that the PNG side have always played poorly in the first half only to pick up in the second half. Let’s hope they play the full 80 minutes.

Below are some of the tweets taken of the arrival of the team yesterday.
