(Arnold Krewanty first from right – middle row)
We owe this game to you our loyal fans
As the PNG Hunters prepare for their biggest ever match since entering the Intrust Cup competition we caught up with their team manager Arnold Krewanty to give us an insight on just how the team is preparing.
AK: It was 4 years of hard work in the making there and to achieve that was great and you could feel the sense of accomplishment in achieving that milestone
AK: We are on track and as usual and take one game at a time and focus on what everyone needs to do to achieve that outcome for the weekend. Oh yes we do have injury concerns like every other team in the Intrust Super cup but it is manageable and we advise the players to manage their injuries to ensure they are fit and ready for the next game.
AK: I think it all boils down to doing the little things right and getting our players to be in peak shape before the season kicks off. We also reiterated to the players to be smart and play smart and abide by the Values of being a Hunters player. Coach Mike and the SP Hunters Management are very strict on the Hunters Values and what it takes to be a SP Hunters player.
AK: The players we have are not new to that sort of crowd environment. They expect to play in front of a huge crowd and will absorb it with ease. They have become accustomed that sort of atmosphere and is no real issue to the team.
AK: It all boils down to his preparation during the week leading into each game week in week out and the extra responsibility he has as leader of the pack. It boils back to doing those little things right.
AK: It wasn’t that difficult for coach Mike and the management team to finalize the team as most players have basically picked themselves into the team. The only unlucky ones are the ones who have injuries and can’t make the team.
AK: Yes they have been in the 4 year journey and we owe it to them.
We are having a training session on Thursday at the NFS and they are all welcome to come and see their players train before they head down south on Friday for the grand final.
AK: We owe this game to you our loyal fans and will ensure we come back with the silverware.
