About 8 years ago, plans were underway for a casino to be built just opposite the Big Rooster 4 mile outlet. Construction started well but then things went astray.
The developer a Korean company is believed to have fell short of money and went overseas to seek funds. The other partner, a local landowner company, was left in no man’s land as all it could see was the skeleton of two huge building adjacent to each other.
The city authority did give notice to the developer to show cause why the contract should not be terminated but there is now very little information as to what came of that notice.
The development known as The Port Moresby Casino Hotel received much criticism particularly at a time when gambling was starting to become a real concern for families.
The project was at the time believed to be K22 million but driving across the building it’s simply a ghost building with nothing else to show for it.
