The last time we heard about Aspen Medical was through an article published by PNG Resources earlier this year. The article featured Aspen Medical’s Managing Director Glenn Keys about establishing a permanent residence for the company in Port Moresby.
This grabbed our interest because the current state of health services in the country is well below par and the thought of a reknown and reputable health service provider entering the market would provide an incentive for others to “notch up a gear” so to speak.
Turn the page a few months later and the billboard for Aspen Medical has just been put up at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.
Aspen Medical provides a range of services including 24/7 medical evacuation services, 24/7 e-medicine consultation, pre-employment medical assessments, drug and alcohol testing to the resources, defence, humanitarian and government industries, is currently in in the process of constructing a medical clinic in Port Moresby, with its completion imminent.
It is not exactly known at this stage as to which market the company will provide for but if the location of the company at Harbour City is any indication, it might take a corporate oriented focus.
The Port Moresby branch is believed to be led by Dr. Gideon Kendino who is not only well known in the medical field but also in the sporting field having been appointed the official doctor for a number of sporting codes. Dr. Kendino takes the title of PNG Country Manager for the company.
The investment by Aspen Medical also indicates confidence in the market and the country in general by foreign investors.
