Cricket PNG (CPNG) will be hosting Kenya in the Round 3 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) matches at the Amini Park, Port Moresby on the 28th and 30th May, 2016.

The two (2) WCLC matches will see the HEBOU PNG Barramundis take on Kenya for the first time on home soil.

“This will be CPNG’s first ever international ICC global cricket match to be hosted here in PNG, “ said CPNG General Manager Greg Campbell, “We’ve just been given the ground tick by ICC officials on Monday and are going full speed with preparations under way.”

The HEBOU PNG Barramundis extended squad began training earlier this year with head coach and former New Zealand Test Player, Dipak Patel excited at the challenge ahead,

“The extended squad have been training extremely well since March and out fitness has improved remarkably since then,” remarked Patel, “Playing at home will also be a huge moral boost for the boys having their families, cricket fraternity and the PNG community come out to support them.”

The ICC WCLC is an elite 50 over competition and pathway for participating teams to play in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 and subsequently have a chance to qualify for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.  The HEBOU PNG Barramundis are currently sixth (6th) position, on four (4) points while Kenya is in fourth (4th) position on six (6) points.

The HEBOU PNG Barramundis are hoping to maintain their successful record streak against Kenya having beaten the team in the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers in New Zealand (2014) and two wins in ICC T20 qualifiers in Dubai and Ireland.
