If you are looking to buy Papua New Guinea’s art and craft from the locals, there are several options.  The Tabiri place, the Ela Beach craft market and the Moresby Arts Theater craft markets have been the traditional “go to” places.  And latest entity entering the craft market “market” is Laguna Hotel.

The market was first opened in October last year and its operating times are from 8 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon.  Like the Ela Beach and MAT craft markets, the Laguna craft market is held once a month on the first Saturday of every month.  This means that there’s bound to be a craft market in Port Moresby open every Saturday.

According to the Hotel, the idea of having the craft market is to support the local communities sell their unique craft and hopefully help them in their livelihood.  With that goal in mind, the hotel does not charge any fee for those wanting to sell their crafts although conditions apply.

For visitors to the city, this is a fantastic opportunity to not only see the amazing art and craft on offer, there’s the opportunity to buy them.  There’s a wide range of art and craft available and at prices for any budget so there’s bound to be something you can take home.

It’s a unique place to set up a craft market and it’s a pleasant atmosphere too.
