Port Moresby Nature Park and Bank South Pacific (BSP) are once again teaming up to host an eventful day to mark World Environment Day.

With the theme “Connecting people to Nature”, planned activities aim to reinforce and promote our responsibility in caring for and respecting the environment and the world we live in.

“The Nature Park has partnered with BSP on this event for the last 5 years and this year we look forward to another 20 organisations joining us to spread the message on how we can save our planet,” Ms McGeorge, added.

Park General Manager Michelle McGeorge who has been a key driver in the positive developments said, “The expo is part of on-going activities that educate and promote awareness about PNG’s vast flora and fauna.”

“This year’s event will be on Saturday 3rd June, at the Port Moresby Nature Park. During the expo from 9am to 3pm, park rangers will take visitors on tours and showcase the many native animals including bird of paradise, tree-kangaroos, wallabies, snakes, crocodiles, hornbills and multiple parrot species. There will also be face painting, colouring in activities, bouncing castles, fun and games,” Ms McGeorge said.

BSP Brand Ambassador and PNG’s Champion Swimmer, Ryan Pini, MBE will also be presents to take part in the activities on the day.

The Port Moresby Nature Park is PNG’s only combined botanical and zoological parks and gardens dedicated to the promotion of PNG’s flora and fauna.

BSP Head of Marketing and PR, Gorethy Semi said, “BSP has continued to partner with the Port Moresby Nature for this event because, we hope to inspire positive attitudes, promote changed behaviours and influence our young leaders in the community.”

“Our Go Green Event calendars include observing the Earth Hour, Earth Day, World Environment Day and the major Annual Pacific wide BSP Go Green School Clean up Event. Such initiatives in partnership with the community, helps to promote sustainable business practices.” Ms Semi added.

It will be a fun filled and exciting day. City residents are encouraged to come along. The park offers a lush change from the hustle and bustle of Port Moresby City.

Gate fees are Adults K7.00, Children (3yrs-12yrs) K3.00 and Students (with ID) K5.00. For information, contact the Port Moresby Nature Park on 326 0248.
