Manus Secondary School now has a multi-purpose grandstand facility which will be used as a mini-grandstand for sports fans and also a stage to hold presentations, courtesy of Bank South Pacific (BSP).

Thankful students, teachers, parents and the local community praised BSP Lorengau for the construction and handover of a new multi-purpose stand.

The creative design provides four layers of benches for spectators and up top is a stage that sporting officials can use during games and for presentations.

School Principal Alois Kinol, thanked BSP Lorengau for the project, saying that the facility would greatly assist with sporting activities for his students and the local community.

“Thank you BSP, the new facility will be of great benefit to us, we are able to house spectators properly when hosting school carnivals or even provincial events. Also at the end of the competition we are able to hold the presentation on a proper stage,” Mr Kinol said.

This project is the 15th out of 39 projects that will be nationwide in 2015 by branches and Strategic Business Units.

The project took two months to complete, with staff giving up their weekends to doing general cleanup of the field, assisting with construction of the stand.

BSP Lorengau manager Quillan Nongi said “Sports is an important tool for development and we are happy to have contributed to a facility that will benefit the community.”

Another project handover recently, BSP Lae Commercial Centre handed over a new brand new basketball court to pleased students, teachers’ and parents of Taraka Primary School in Lae.

Head Teacher of Taraka Primary School, Thomas Keku praised BSP for the project saying, “The children now use the newly constructed basketball court to develop their basketball skills.”
