Recognizing ordinary Papua New Guinean women for their great and extraordinary deeds in influencing society is something we don’t experience or see everyday in this country.
Seven (7) years on and the Pride of Papua New Guinea Awards for Women is still here to foster and elevate these unique and under-acclaimed women who deserve recognition for their accomplishments.
This highly prestigious award is a community service initiative by the CPL Group which aims at identifying and rewarding ordinary Papua New Guinean women who have done extraordinary things to make their communities a better place to live.
Since its inception in 2007, the Pride of PNG Awards for Women has received thousands of nominations for women of all walks of life. From the many who get nominated each year, only six women are selected and awarded with the Pride of PNG medal under the six categories: Young PNG, Bravery and Courage, Community Spirit, Care and Compassion, Environment, and Education Role Model.
The Patron of Pride of PNG Awards for Women and Governor General of Papua New Guinea His Excellency- Sir Michael Ogio will officially launch the 8th Pride of PNG Awards for Women on the 29th of May at the Ela Beach Hotel in Port Moresby.
At the event, past winners- Mato Posu (2013 Bravery & Courage), Nara Keti (2013 Care & Compassion) and Vaira Berua (2011 Education Role Model) will recount their experiences on wining the Awards and share their experience and accomplishments before and after the Awards.
Guests at the function will include representatives from diplomatic mission, NGO’s, corporate heads and dignitaries.
With the genuine support of Post Courier, PNG FM, EMTV and Air Niugini, this award program continues to recognize and celebrate the lives of many unsung heroes of this nation.
The uniqueness of the Pride of PNG Awards for Women is that the winners are given assistance by CPL Group annually for projects relating to the category they have won. This gives the winners the opportunity to pursue their dreams and at the same time continue serving their communities.
As an equal opportunity employer, CPL Group is proud to be supporting the women in Papua New Guinea and is committed to add more years to the success of Pride of PNG.
