The inmates, staff and community living around the precincts of Barawagi Correctional Services Institution are thankful that they have a new basketball court from Bank South Pacific (BSP).

Sport and other recreational activities play a role in the rehabilitation of inmates, hence Prison commander Michael Avirap, when officiating at the handover, thanked BSP for such a worthy project.

“Thank you BSP, I believe that this new court will be help in the rehabilitation process of the inmates. The court will also will be used by our CS officers, and even the local community,” Commander Avirap said.

The project delivered by BSP Kundiawa, is among 39 projects that will be delivered by the bank throughout PNG in 2015.

The court was constructed over a three month period, and staff assisted during weekends to do general cleaning and assists with menial tasks such as painting of the court.

BSP Kundiawa Manager Rita Singut said “We are happy that this project will help all in the community and we urge the community to take ownership and look after the facility”.
