It’s been much talked about since last year that Philippine Airlines would be flying to Port Moresby but for various reasons this has been postponed. And the latest news says that PAL will be flying to Port Moresby commencing 25 October 2015. Hopefully, this will create further competition to Air Niugini and make airfares more competitive on this route. Let’s see what unfolds this time.

MANILA – Philippine Airlines (PAL) is flying to Papua New Guinea and two new destinations in Australia and New Zealand in the fourth quarter of this year.
In a statement, the Lucio Tan-owned flag carrier said the twice a week service to Port Moresby starts on October 25.
“I am pleased to announce PAL’s newest destination within the Oceania Region. The robust investment climate and the upsurge of business travel to and from Papua New Guinea make it ideal for PAL to open services between Manila and Port Moresby,” Jaime J. Bautista, PAL president, said.
Port Moresby will be PA’s 37th international destination.
In December, PAL will begin flying to Cairns, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand.
The carrier is using its Airbus A320s for the new flights.
The Port Moresby flight will be the third launched this year after the flag carrier fielded flights to New York on March 15 and Quanzhou, China on April 25.
