BSP delivers another worthy community project in Bulolo

  • Buang High School in Morobe Province, Bulolo District has become one of the few remote schools in Morobe to have solar lights installed in its classrooms, thanks to Banks South Pacific (BSP).

BSP staffs in Bulolo delivered and installed solar lights for the remote high school as part of their 2018 community project initiative. With the community project theme “Solar lights in schools”, BSP branches and Strategic Business units has teamed up with communities to execute these projects.

Bulolo branch staff volunteered two consecutive weekends to visit the high school, to assist to clean and help the local contractor- PNG Forest Products Electrical Electricians to install eight solar panels and lights. This will light up classrooms and teacher houses.

The completed project was handed back to the school and witnessed by the Buang community on the 2nd of September, in a small handover ceremony.

BSP Bulolo Branch Manager Bevilon Homuo said, “The benefits from having electricity at schools go beyond just lighting to study at night. It also provides a sense of security for the community.”

“Education of current and future generations is an imperative step for communities. It is therefore necessary for remote schools to have the basic lighting and electricity to support the learning environment.”

We will ensure to take ownership of the asset and look after it, as it will benefit our community,” Mr Anduari said.

BSP Bulolo Branch is the 22 out of 46 community projects rolled out for this year to officially hand over its project.
