Bank South Pacific (BSP) recognises and supports the professional development for Auditors in the country.
Today, BSP presented K15,000 toward the Institute of Internal Auditors – Papua New Guinea (IIA – PNG) to host its Annual Conference, from the 13th –14th October 2016
“The Bank has supported the IIA – PNG, since its inception in 2005 and sees this event, paramount for auditors to be on par with best practice and technology to ply their trade,” said Agnes Arua, Audit Manager with BSP.
BSP recognises the vital role that internal audit plays in ensuring corporate governance, monitoring and compliance.
“There is also the need for local auditors to keep abreast with business processes, strategic initiatives, technology and risks which challenge the audit profession, and therefore pleased to support this conference,” added Ms Arua.
Agnes is among 10 BSP internal auditors, who are IIA-PNG members and will attending the conference, among 150 other financial members.
Conference Committee Chairman and Treasurer, Pais Noki, applauded BSP for its continued support. “The IIA is an institute dedicated in enhancing the Internal Audit Profession and its roles and responsibilities to promote good governance through accountability and transparency. Such financial donations from the bank go a long way in achieving that objective.”
The theme of the 2016 conference “Keeping that Connection” and is aimed at Internal Auditors keeping abreast of emerging environmental changes and to maintain and build strategic networking and communication with all stakeholders; to enhance to ability to add more value to businesses
“This year’s conference aims to challenging the individual Internal Auditor to gear the individual Internal Auditors mindset to be strategic thinkers and advisors in their organisations. BSP’s support, speaks of what the organisation represents, in building professionals, and promoting good corporate governance,” added Mr Noki.
