We encourage Papua New Guineans to buy these t-shirts when they are out so we support these talented artists to produce more quality work and help them earn a living.
Papua New Guinea artists are amazing.
The work they come up with cannot be found anywhere else in the world. A lot of the artists draw inspiration from Papua New Guinea’s own culture and traditions and there’s an endless list to it.
The fact that Papua New Guinea has over 800 hundred languages is a clear indication of the country’s diversity. And art is a form of expression of many of these diverse Papua New Guinea cultures and traditions.
Media Partners has recently brought into the country heat presses that will be used in conjunction with their roland printers to make t-shirts. Bringing in the heat presses is aimed at the artists – to give them a platform to try and get them some time in the limelight. The initiative by Media Partners is called “icre@te“.
It’s a wonderful initiative by Media Partners because one of the problems with Papua New Guinea artists is that they and their work hardly get much recognition.
Basically, the process is not so complicated for those who want to take advantage of this Media Partners’ initiative. All artists have to do is send in their designs and the most popular ones chosen by Media Partners will become icre@te t-shirts.
The whole process is being done in-house at Media Partners and specific orders from potential customers such as style, size and colour of t-shirts can be submitted to them.
And to top it off, artists will receive royalties from the sale of these t-shirts.
Media Partners are currently finalizing the remaining tasks such as point of sale and will be ready for launch soon. So watch this space!
We encourage Papua New Guineans to buy these t-shirts when they are out. Simply because we keep the money in the country and we encourage these talented artists to produce more quality work and help them earn a living.
